The Road to 210,000

HAL and I continue to turn the odometer at a quick pace. We hit the 208,000 point yesterday and 208,208 on the way to work today.

HAL and I returned to Kentucky from Michigan...and that's the last time I will say that as a resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Wow! Only 8 more days of work and two weeks of residency in Kentucky left. We'll get to 210,000 before leaving the state... and if not, we'll get there on our journey to Kansas City on our way out.

Under the Rainbow

Caught this shot of HAL under a rainbow at work just as a storm was passing through. Haven't taken a photo of HAL in a while... so here goes.

Only 9 more days of work in Kentucky... and 18 days before we depart for our permanent adventure in Michigan.

207,000 with 19 days remaining...

Just a quick update on some mileage figures as HAL and I wind down our time in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Only 19 more days living here...then some time in Kansas City with great friends and a Peter Gabriel concert, before we head up north to Michigan for good :) Hit 207,000 miles this morning just after departing for work...only 19 days to hit 210,000 before leaving KY.

Miles per gallon in our last five tanks of gas look like this

31.74, 30.53, 31.32, 29.92, 30.93

This helps to bring the 2011 mpg average up +.08 from the 205,000 mile mark to 29.45.

Overall miles per gallon since 2003 now stands at 27.32, which is +.02 mpg better than at 205,000.

205,000 and 700 fill-ups

HAL and I crossed the 205,000 mile mark just south of Dayton, Ohio yesterday while we were returning from a quick visit with Heather in the Dayton area. We hope to hit 210,000 sometime before we leave Kentucky for good on June 13th. Yes...HAL and I are leaving Kentucky for good! I accepted a job in Grand Rapids, Michigan and will be moving there. With only 2 hours between myself and Heather - and what should likely be a much much much much much much much shorter commute to work every day, HALs uptick in mileage should drop off dramatically after June 21st. Until then... we'll just keep chugging along.

Oh yeah...and my trip to the gas station yesterday was my 700th fill-up of HAL since I bought him. Yeah... that's a lot of $$$$$$

HAL by the numbers:

The total miles per gallon for the life of HAL: 27.30 +.07 since 200,000

So far in 2011 - Am averaging $3.59/gallon :-( and 29.37 miles per gallon which is +0.60 over 2010 total mpg:-).

Some Mileage Stats for HAL...

And Again...

Well, I guess seeing all ten numbers on the display at once really is not that much of a challenge. Guess I need to find something else to try and take photos of.

On a more exciting note... I'm moving to Grand Rapids in June!!!! So, HAL should be relieved of his 150+ mile per day work trip, making 250,000 a very interesting challenge. 2014 anyone? :-)

Should hit 205,000 this week and possibly 210,000 before leaving Kentucky. After that... 215,000 and beyond is anyone's guess.

Maybe Its Not That Hard...

...I know... title is a That's What She Said. So yeah...I got the Big Ten twice in one mile. Yes... I know... TWSS. So really, here's how that needs to be stated so people don't TWSS on my sentences.

It must not be that difficult to capture all ten digits on the odometer and trip counter. I managed to take pictures of all ten digits occurring twice within one mile this morning. I also missed an opportunity yesterday when my camera would not focus.

Anyways - though I've seen 4 times already with all ten digits, I never thought I would see or even capture the event twice within one mile. So here they are... enjoy.

The Big Ten...

I happened to look down on my way to a meeting today to see I had a shot at getting all ten digits on the odometer and trip counter.

Fortunately for me...i had only two-tenths of a mile to drive after getting off the freeway to capture the digit moment I've been looking for.  The big ten.... Using the B trip counter that I don't ever remember resetting in the 8 years I've had Hal.   Now to see if I can catch it again. Total mileage now stand at 203200.
