185,000 and Falling Just Short in 2010...

HAL crossed the 185,000 mark on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 while he and I were making our way back home from his 10th oil change and 5th tire rotation of the year. Yes... 10 oil changes in 12 months.

On the slightly disappointing side of things - on 12/31/2009 when HAL got his recent set of tires, he exited the tire dealership at 135,652. At the end of today, 12/31/2010 - HAL will be at 185,350-ish. So we will fall just a couple hundred miles short of 50,000 miles for the calendar year. If it were under 100 miles, I might have gone on a mini-roadie tonight...but for 300 miles, I will not have that kind of time.

As a feeler...I feel a little disappointed in myself to get that close and not cross the 50,000 mile mark for 2010. If I were a planner...I would have seen that coming and made a few extra trips to somewhere for no reason - just to chalk up the miles.

Oh well - Happy 2011 and here's to another full year of life on the road with HAL and another shot at 50,000 miles for the calendar year.

HAL Hits 180,000

Well...not yet. He will later today, so I thought while I had a few minutes, I would post. Took a bit longer this 5,000 miles than the last couple of 5k miles did - mostly because I had a 16 day bout of work at the World Equestrian Games... a 30 mile round trip instead of my usual 150 mile trip. I did mix in a 1300 mile trip to Iowa though for Halloween...

175,000 Already

HAL passed the 175,000 mile mark today just before I pulled into the parking lot at the Joint Operations Center for the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky. Amazingly enough - the last 5,000 miles took 28 days to achieve...the same number of days it took to tick through the previous 5,000 miles.

170,000 miles and rising fast

HAL went over the 170,000 mile threshold on Friday August 20th just north of Traverse City, Michigan. It was a memorable trip with Heather...a ride that saw us pay $8 to visit a Michigan State Park for 5 minutes (never got out of the car because lightning was too bad) and took us straight through the heart of a very large and scary thunderstorm coming off of Lake Michigan.

HAL insisted we drive through... Heather thought we should stop. Jim sided with HAL... yeah, Jim still has some learning to do :)

We all came through safe and enjoyed the weekend despite our run-in. HAL is a champ...got new rear brake pad and rotors for the first time this week and has already shot past 171,000. At 175,000 - HAL will have put 40,000 miles on his new tires - purchased on December 31, 2009.

As always... here are some fun mileage facts:

Last 5,000 miles took 28 days or about 178.5 miles/day
Last 35,000 miles took 236 days or about 148.3 miles/day (yearly pace of 54,100)

Since 100,000 Miles on 2/18/2009 - 549 days or about 127.5 miles/day
First 100,000 Miles (4/23/2003-2/18/2009) took 2130 days or about 47 miles/day

At the pace of 125 miles/day... HAL should reach 200,000 miles in about 240 days or toward the end of April 2011. If I keep a 145 mile per day pace from here on out...200,000 would be reached in the latter half of March.

HAL at 165,000 miles

Yes... Jazzy's HAL blog continues.

HAL crossed over 165,000 miles this morning on the way to work. Man those miles are ticking up fast.

Here are some fun mileage facts...

Last 5,000 miles took 34 days or about 147 miles/day
Last 30,000 miles took 208 days or about 144 miles/day (yearly pace of 52,500)

Since 100,000 Miles on 2/18/2009 - 521 days or about 125 miles/day

At the pace of 125 miles/day... HAL should reach 200,000 miles in about 280 days or toward the end of April 2011. If I keep a 145 mile per day pace from here on out...200,000 would be reached in the latter half of March.

HAL... 160,000 miles and climbing

I know this has turned into HAL's blog - but you know... who has time for blog posting when they are busy driving so much? Not me...

Anyways... 160,000 miles reach on June 19th, 2010. 488 days since hitting 100,000 - thats just about 123 miles per day.

Yes, I drive a lot. Shall we start the When will HAL hit 200,000 miles contest soon? At 123 miles per day - thats... uh, 325 days from now, so Late April, 2011. We'll see...
